This article discusses how wedding planning could be done with a wedding planning book. Although this is true, I believe it is less stressful and less informative than it would be to hire a wedding planner. Wedding planners are definitely more expensive. But, on possible the most important day of your life, you should be able to carefully plan it and have someone help/guide you.

Pamela J. McKenzie, Elisabeth Davies, (2010) "Documentary tools in everyday life: the wedding planner", Journal of Documentation, Vol. 66 Iss: 6, pp.788 – 806 Web. 26 Feb. 2017.

This article discusses the importance of planning tools, such as calendars, daybooks, planners, and worksheets and how they help coordinate your life from day to day. They are used for larger projects such as planning a social event. A calendar allows a wedding planner to schedule out all events for their records. Planning tools allow for organization and staying on task.

This article discusses how wedding duties typically fall on women. During my interview, the company I talked to told me they typically get more phone calls and emails from soon-to-be brides who are reaching out to them, rather than their fiancés.

Yeh, Chin Chia. "Service Encounter and Marketing of Micro Creative Industries : A Study of Wedding Planner." Proquest. Academy of Taiwan Information Systems Research, 2013. Web. 27 Feb. 2017.

This article describes how wedding planners play an important role in the wedding industry. They are able to build a beautiful wedding from the start. It also says how wedding planners benefit by “word-of-mouth,” that matched with my interview when Kate (owner of A Piece of Cake Event Planning) told me much of the clients were referred by a friend.

Kristen Blankely. "Sign In: Registered Users." Journal of Family Issues. Sage Journals, 12 Nov. 2007. Web. 27 Feb. 2017.

This article discusses how wedding planning reveals connections between liberal feminists and the values of family life. It talks about the business of a women while planning her wedding and keeping up with her work life. Some people choose to plan their own wedding instead of having someone take care of it for them.

Bertella, Giovanna. "The Emergence of Tuscany as a Wedding Destination: The Role of Local Wedding Planners." Tourism Planning & Development. Taylor and Francis Online, 01 Feb. 2016. Web. 27 Feb. 2017.

While reading this, tons of more questions I can ask during my follow up interview arose.

Do the Wedding Planners recommend all of the choices that’ll be made? Do they recommend venues, wedding dress stores, flower shops, and all the other extra things included in your special day? Or do you tell them exactly what you want to have and their job is just to make sure you get exactly that?

With all the stress of wanting to look and feel your best on your wedding day, getting a planner may seem important to relieve the stress off overall. “Weight and Weddings. Engaged Men’s Body Weight Ideals and Wedding Weight Management Behaviors” discusses how a percentage of both brides and grooms try to get into shape and feel the best possible on their big day.

Humble, Aine M. "Journal of Divorce & Remarriage." Taylor and Francis Online. N.p., 17 Apr. 2009. Web. 27 Feb. 2017.

This article talks about how if you get married for a second time, you are less likely to have a big wedding. This makes more questions come up in my head, such as in my follow up interview asking what the typical size for the weddings they plan are. Also the largest and smallest sizes.

Jellison, Katherine. “Journal of Marriage and Family.” Journal of Marriage and Family, vol. 69, no. 2, 2007, pp. 551–552., www.jstor.org/stable/4622460.

This talks about the new changing cultures of wedding and how they’re not the same as they were 30 years ago. I believe weddings do still have the same meaning behind them, to vow to be with and love someone. But, much has changed. Now, women are working more. But, they still do invest more time planning a wedding than men do.

Stafford, Lauren, and Allison M. Scott. "Exploring Postnuptial Depressive Symptoms." Blue Brides. Journal Of Family Issues, 11 Mar. 2015. Web. 26 Feb. 2017.

This article discusses the post-wedding depressing that newly wedded brides tend to get. Is there any way wedding planners try to prevent that feeling? Do wedding planners feel pressured by that idea? Or is the bride feeling depressed because she was so excited for the wedding that now she feels like she has nothing to look forward to?
