Blog #3 -Plagiarism
Plagiarism is when one takes someone else’s idea or work and makes it out to be their own. Plagiarism is frowned upon and the consequences of doing it vary depending on your circumstances, you could possibly be fired from a job or even fail a course. Plagiarism can easily be avoided though. We are able to avoid plagiarism by taking simple precautions. You can steer clear of plagiarizing by citing all of your sources. By citing your sources, you are giving credit to the original publisher. Another way to avoid plagiarism is by writing down where you get your information from so you do not forget and accidently claim it as your own. Using a range of sources is also helpful in avoiding plagiarism. If you limit yourself to just one or two sources, you may find yourself taking more and more of that person’s ideas and thoughts.
