Blog 4- Consider the Lobster
“Consider the Lobster” opened up my eyes to how much lobster is consumed at the World’s Largest Lobster cooker, a whopping 25,000 pounds. This could be seen as a research paper to me because they go into great detail about the background of a lobster. The author explains where the name “lobster” comes from (which is Old English meaning spider.) The article does not just describe the festival where they eat the lobster, but so much more background knowledge about the sea animal. He describes how lobsters are the insects of the sea. The author also goes into detail about how lobster was a food for the poor or for those in prison until the 1800’s. He also discussed multiple ways lobsters are able to be cooked. All of the information he has provided can be seen as research. The background information could easily be found on the internet. The information David Foster Wallace provided has made an impact on my views on cooking an animal while it is alive.
